 The definition of potpourri is mixture of herbs, flowers and spices kept in closed jar or in a cloth, which is later used for scent. People use it to spread fragrance in home or give as gifts to friends and families. Potpourri is decorated natural air freshener made from dried flowers and herbs. The mixture is made of flowers, herbs, cones and different variety of herbs. The dried stuff made of above mentioned ingredients are placed in bowl or decorated plate and placed in living room or bed rooms to spread fragrance in house.

 The concept of potpourri has momved from traditional way of drying flowers and herb to more sophesticated way of presenting, decorating and preserving it for longer period in house. How to make your own Potpourri

You can mix any kind of flower and herb to create an aromatic potpourri mixture. People use Sachets to contain potpourri and then place then in cupboard, closets, drawers and attach them to pillows etc. The hard herbs or roots should be broken to small chips to fit in open bowl or in a sachet. Sachets are nothing but small cloth in which dry potpourri is sealed.

There are many recipes of making potpourri. You can choose different flower petals such as rose, marigold, lotus mix with herbs and rose oil drops. Some people add cinnamon sticks for scent. Gently mix the petals with herbs. After mixture is completely mixed, seal the mixture in a sachet or in a closed paper bag. Let the mixture be in paper bag for couple of weeks before it taking out. Once out place it in a open potpourri bowl and let the scent spread in all direction.
